So I used Education Connection, and they wouldn't give me my results until I gave them my contact information, so I knew right then I was in trouble. Sure enough, they match you to some schools and send your info to those schools for them to contact you. I got matched to three schools. One, Walden University, called and left me a message. Haven't heard from the other two, but Mom says the phone's been ringing constantly all day and whoever is calling refuses to talk to an answering machine. I don't know which of the schools it is that won't leave a message, but I already know I don't want to bother with them. All they want is to pressure me into signing my life away, and no thank you. Gibbs tried to do the same thing and I ignored that Mary Williams woman for the entire year she called me. I might call the guy from Walden back... but considering the amount of money I'd have to pay, I'm not sure about it. Although, it's online, so... I don't know. But I might call him.
Anyway. Worked sucked, but I got a raise today. I was below job rate again, so my salary's gone up, plus today's the first day of the location pay increase. Think I got an extra $30 out of that. Salary went up $3,000 in all. Still waiting for the stimulus check to get deposited... I think when that happens, I'll keep that in my account and dump my paycheck into savings. This is the extra paycheck, so I don't have to pay rent with it.
Still didn't get to Gamestop to pick up Mario Kart Wii. Will probably go tomorrow during my lunch break. I deliberately stayed away from the seaport today, and it actually turned out to be a good decision as I passed a freaking HORDE of... schoolkids, tourists, whatever they were--I'll assume they were tourists--headed down that way. I would've beaten them there had I gone straight from work, but I hate being anywhere near the seaport with such people there. They have to stop to take pictures. They have to stop to look in the windows. They have to stop at the tops of escalators. The escalator's not gonna stop because you stop. Rrrgh.
Craig called last night and asked me if I'm still trying to find Twin Snakes. I told him about the possibility of horrible controls, and he doesn't care. (Yet.) I'm gonna get it anyway. We're not getting rid of the original or anything. (They totally could've done something with the controller support, though. I still have all my PS1 memory cards even though I don't play the games, but to have everything ready to go and find I couldn't move Snake at all totally pissed me off. Nothing wrong with that controller, either. And I was able to get through the menus! False sense of security = bad. I can only hope I still do have that PS1 controller. Or that Twin Snakes isn't TOO intolerable, hehe.) I won't care about the voice acting, as I'm sure I'll have heard MUCH worse. I wonder at what point I started caring about graphics, though? It never used to bother me. I used to have little arguments with Dad when I was a kid about Rocket Knight Adventures and its supposedly bad graphics. I turned on MGS1 and my brain went "NO. No no NO. Get your ass on eBay RIGHT NOW." Would not be such a big deal if it weren't for the fact that MGS games are (from what I've seen) full of cutscenes.
And speaking of MGS, Craig was playing the third one after Matt never showed up Sunday, and I really think we might end up with a PS3. He actually stopped what he was doing when I found an English trailer for MGS4. (Why won't Vamp DIE?! His level of creepiness rivals Voldo's, I swear...) All his focus lately has been on MGS and SSBB. So, it'll wait until sometime after June and possibly until fall, because I will not buy it for one game (and Super Stardust HD, as much as I want to play it, doesn't count), but we're probably getting one.
NOW. Here's hoping the ICO/Shadow of the Colossus team makes another game.
