Holy crap.

You know, for being the butt monkey (... I'm so sorry for that) of the series, Johnny's hot. o_o;
meitantei_cj: (DW - 10 - Yay :D)
I've been watching MGS4 cutscenes. Not too many, but enough to know that I definitely need to get the game. I watched the end because I had to. I know the resolution for Raiden. Also: Go, Otacon!

We were messing around on Subsistence and I finally loaded up Snake vs. Monkey (which Craig would not touch). The ensuing Colonel/Snake codec conversation amused us greatly. We never actually got to play it though, since we had to go help the 'rents in the yard.

We planted a couple more plants, something with pink flowers. (Last week they planted something with purple flowers... probably the same plant.) The one problem with Cymbalta: It causes excess sweating. It's not a problem unless I start sweating. I must sit down and not move for at least ten minutes before it finally stops, shorter if there's a breeze coming at me (which there never is on the subway, so I'm screwed there until I get to work). I don't like sweating. ^^; Still, working in the yard was actually fun. I enjoyed it, anyway. We also saw a bunny after Dad accidentally sprayed it with the hose. First time seeing a wild bunny. It was adorable and I wanted to take it home. Today was pretty much wildlife day: Saw the bunny, saw a bald eagle sitting in the usual tree, saw a falcon sitting on the ground (!), saw a turkey moonwalk out of some tall grass. I'm dead serious about that. It walked backward out of the grass. Then it walked right back into it as if it realized how close it was to the road. XD;

And then I saw no less than three rainbows and some really cool lightning bolts.

Today was an excellent day.

Now, I need to get something to eat. The only thing I've had all day was two hamburgers before we went playing in the dirt, and that was many hours ago.

Darn. XD;;

At least three people aren't going to be in today. Haven't heard from the boss yet, so I assume he's on his way. (Drat.) I had to come in today anyway to buzz in the people coming here for RUTA training, but I swear I wish I hadn't stayed home last week. ^^; Oh well. I'm taking the train up, anyway, and I can't get that until 4:50. There's a 4:09 or something like that, but at that rate, it makes sense to just finish out the day.

Today needs to fly by. I mean like WHOOSH. Need to get to the house. Craig beat Twin Snakes again and got the GOOD ending (AKA Otacon's--invisibility FTW! And Otacon's ending amuses me anyway because he's such a klutz) and called me yesterday while he was sneaking up on guards and snapping their necks. And he accidentally found out about Meryl doing sit-ups in her underwear. XD He spent almost an hour on the phone with me killing everything in his path. Of course, he felt like a doofus when I pointed this out to him:

Me: You know what? You could go through the whole game, sneak past everyone while you're invisible, not kill anyone, and get the highest ranking ever.
Him: ... oh, damn! You're right! Damnit! Oh well, I'm not saving anyway...
Me: How many people have you killed so far?
Him: Everyone.
Me: How many necks have you snapped?
Him: ... Enough.

XD; I told him to copy the file to another memory card and have one for killing everything and another for going through the game kill-free. He's going through it anyway since he keeps forgetting to save at Psycho Mantis. He LOVES Psycho Mantis. And apparently Mantis told him he likes to play Super Mario Sunshine, when that game has never ever been in that house. Neither of us have ever played it. That's what he said, though. He could be lying. ^^;

ANYWAY. Yesterday I hit the 10-hour mark on Wii Fit. My bank is now sparkly orange. I imagine it's supposed to be a form of bronze or something. Also, I now kick ass at Triangle and I can actually do the Chair pose without my legs shaking TOO much. But I practice it at work, so that helps.

Right. Craig didn't find these yet, because he would have definitely called me if he had... which means I get to show him on Friday. Mwahaha. They're all crack.

It started, really, late last night/early this morning. Craig was playing MGS3, and I fell asleep on it, but I woke up every once in a while and watched for a bit. Fell asleep at midnight or so. At two or three something in the morning, he was working on beating a boss (The End) and had been running around the forest looking for/dodging sniper fire for about half an hour, so I stayed up to help him find The End's footprints/The End himself. Finally beat him, and Craig kept going. (Little did we know, you can skip that fight entirely--and I knew one of the tricks to it, but I couldn't remember which boss the trick was for. He knows both tricks now, but he says sniping The End in the head when he first sees him and watching him explode in his wheelchair would be more fun than the old-age trick.) By three, he's really supposed to shut the games off, but I didn't bother saying anything. We were all tired, and neither parent was going to get up to bother him about it.

I basically watched him go through the whole game after that, and helped him out with the "fight" with The Sorrow (I figured it out, but accidentally hit Continue anyway and I had to go through it again, haha). By the fight with Volgin, I was totally awake. We didn't go back to sleep after that. I didn't start nodding off again until somewhere around noon. Craig was fueled solely by coffee. He hadn't slept at all since five yesterday evening, when we all went out to go watch Iron Man.

Told Mom I might not be much company in the car, what with getting less than two hours of uninterrupted sleep, but I managed to stay up the entire trip back to the city after we stopped at Stewart's for ice cream in Goshen. It's now 8pm, and I just had a glass of soda... which wasn't exactly intelligent since it has caffeine.

BUT. I don't have work tomorrow. Jury duty's at 11am, so I can at least sleep in if my internal clock shuts off for JUST this night. I'm really running on fumes right now. I bet Craig went to sleep as soon as we left (he didn't want to sleep before then) and didn't wake up for at least five hours, hehe. That's the first all-nighter he's pulled in a long time.

Related to Craig: Mom and Dad had a talk with him. I stayed out of it, but I listened in from the kitchen. Seems the problem really is with him, not with any other kids. Mom thinks it might be because he holds Matt in such high regard, because Matt's a smart kid... but Matt's really struggling with math and possibly some other subjects (transition from junior high school to high school, probably), and Craig might feel that if Matt can't do it, what chance does he have at doing it? I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems like they may have gotten through to him. (Mom told me she also told Dad off a bit about how he handles the situation. Dad handles it the way his dad handled things, and Grandpa was very tough on him. Basically, Dad needs to back off a bit.) I had a really short chat with Craig about how I'm glad he's going to make a committment to get his grades right by the end of the year, because I want to see him do well. I also told him I'd get him two games if he did well at year's end. I don't mind doing that. I was going to buy him Rainbow Six Vegas 2 anyway.

So, we'll see what happens.

LOL

THAT'S IT: I'm watching [livejournal.com profile] fissionmailed. The posts are cracking me up.

Also, I made the mistake of walking up Wall Street to Broadway yesterday, on a trip to Borders. (Mistake because there TOO MANY TOURISTS, damnit.)

THANK YOU, MGS2, for ruining Federal Hall for me. You know I walked past it and immediately thought of Solidus falling to the statue, right? XD;;

So I used Education Connection, and they wouldn't give me my results until I gave them my contact information, so I knew right then I was in trouble. Sure enough, they match you to some schools and send your info to those schools for them to contact you. I got matched to three schools. One, Walden University, called and left me a message. Haven't heard from the other two, but Mom says the phone's been ringing constantly all day and whoever is calling refuses to talk to an answering machine. I don't know which of the schools it is that won't leave a message, but I already know I don't want to bother with them. All they want is to pressure me into signing my life away, and no thank you. Gibbs tried to do the same thing and I ignored that Mary Williams woman for the entire year she called me. I might call the guy from Walden back... but considering the amount of money I'd have to pay, I'm not sure about it. Although, it's online, so... I don't know. But I might call him.

Anyway. Worked sucked, but I got a raise today. I was below job rate again, so my salary's gone up, plus today's the first day of the location pay increase. Think I got an extra $30 out of that. Salary went up $3,000 in all. Still waiting for the stimulus check to get deposited... I think when that happens, I'll keep that in my account and dump my paycheck into savings. This is the extra paycheck, so I don't have to pay rent with it.

Still didn't get to Gamestop to pick up Mario Kart Wii. Will probably go tomorrow during my lunch break. I deliberately stayed away from the seaport today, and it actually turned out to be a good decision as I passed a freaking HORDE of... schoolkids, tourists, whatever they were--I'll assume they were tourists--headed down that way. I would've beaten them there had I gone straight from work, but I hate being anywhere near the seaport with such people there. They have to stop to take pictures. They have to stop to look in the windows. They have to stop at the tops of escalators. The escalator's not gonna stop because you stop. Rrrgh.

Rambling about Metal Gear Solid & PS3s... )

Okay... why the hell didn't Konami use the Twin Snakes version of MGS in the collection? -_-;; I just went to play the first game today and can't. The game doesn't recognize the Dual Shock 2 controller and I have no clue where our original PS1 controller is. Probably in the basement... The graphics are scary, anyway. We played through that stuff. o_o; I guess they would've had to change too much in order to use Twin Snakes, in terms of programming. Two entirely different systems. So anyway, I have to find myself a copy of Twin Snakes now. Not a problem with eBay, but I'm trying to keep from spending more than $40-$50. I'll spend more if I have to, though. I did it with Rez, I'll do it with this.

ANYWAY. Casting Theater is fun, haha.
meitantei_cj: (DW - 10 - Dorky Doctor)
Spoilers for Metal Gear Solid 2's plot... XD; Taken from TV Tropes' "I Am Not Making This Up" video game examples:

Metal Gear Solid 2: A bisexual flamenco-dancing vampire! A magical ghost-possessed arm! The cyborg ninja is a Russian mercenary with hairy armpits! It turns out the psychic woman wasn't psychic and then it turned out she was! They've all been dead! For a hundred years! Your entire life was an elaborate charade! But you have freedom to decide! She's pregnant! She can't be pregnant because she doesn't exist, except she does, except she might not! THE VILLAINS MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT BE A SENTIENT WHITE HOUSE! THAT CONTROLS THE INTERNETS! I NEED SCISSORS! 61!

Seriously, playing the game was all sorts of fun, but... yeah. XD; And I totally missed the trigger for the conversation about Vamp, although I saw it on YouTube. And then of course someone on TVT mentioned the president grabbing Raiden's package. Ahahaha.

OH, and if Craig beat Solidus for me and ended the game, if we've unlocked it, I MUST SHOW HIM that casting theatre thing. MUST. One of the users on YouTube put Otacon in as Vamp, which is both hilarious and creepy, and Craig hasn't seen the vid yet. And YouTube-quality video sucks, so I'll just show him on the TV. Otacon should just not do those things.

Now I wanna play the game again. You know I haven't even played through MGS1 yet, right? I dove right into 2. ^^;
meitantei_cj: (DW - 10 - Yay :D)
I downloaded the OtaClock (because I'm a nerd) and was trying to set the alarm, but there isn't one in the English version, apparently. Boo.

Still, the Otacon sprite is cute. XD; Couldn't help it. I already love his character, which means OBSESSION SHALL COMMENCE.

I'm such a geek. XDDD

Oh Snake, you idiot.

I've seen this clip before, but not with sound. I had no idea they were turning. XD
