I took him out last night at around 7:15, and bumped into a guy coming back with his dog. We stood and chatted for a while (and I got a recommendation for a vet, also on Grand St., who's actually cheaper than the vet I was thinking of going to, although both of them seem to be of good character from the guy's descriptions) until another little dog named Oreo came up to Oliver to sniff him. Oliver seemed unimpressed. I then realized (and stated) that Oreo must've been the dog Mom had told me she'd seen when she'd walked Oliver earlier. (Oreo's owner said that Oreo's never ignored him before, but when he sees Oliver, he makes a beeline for him.)

Then we saw another guy that lives in our building (I forget his name. I shall call him Jose until I see him again and can confirm) with his Westie. The Westie (named Wes, haha) and Oliver seemed to get along okay, although whenever Wes would try to get behind Oliver to sniff, Oliver would do this very quick evasive maneuver. Like, he'd turn his body so he was facing Wes, all four feet kind of quick-stepping on the ground. It's hard to explain, easier to watch. ^^;; We parted ways for a bit, but found them again near the park, so we walked with them. Wes was off his leash, and Jose said it'd be okay to take Oliver off his. I hesitated, but then I unleashed him, and just kept a very close eye on him. He did great, though. He and Wes followed each other around, marked their territory here and there (sometimes one right after the other in the same spot, ha), and at one point Wes was on higher ground and Oliver propped himself up so they could look at each other face-to-face. There was no aggression at all. They looked like two friends just hanging out, and Oliver's tail was wagging all over the place. The best thing was, there were no pits around (Oliver hates pits), and it seemed like the time of night when all the small-/medium-sized dog owners were walking their pets. We met another dog (a Norfolk Terrier, just turned a year old) and his owner and let the dogs play with them a bit. Oliver was nervous arounud that one. He kept hiding behind me. XD The Norfolk was still very much in puppy mode, and I think he just had a little too much excited energy for my four-year-old. ^^

I'm going to take Oliver out at the same time tonight and see if we run into the same people again. It's too bad we don't have a dog park around there. There's a field by the park, but since they remade it and outfitted it with fake grass, dogs aren't allowed in there. Not that I haven't seen dogs in there, but I'm not getting fined.

This morning, Oliver nosed my bag and looked at me, like he knew I was leaving. He even got into his bed. I thought he'd gotten used to me leaving after his walk, and he wouldn't run to the door and start crying, but once I got to the elevator, I heard him. I just put my ZEN on to drown him out. I hate leaving him home, bleh. I get lots of kisses when I get back, though.
