Router is an Ambit U10C019. Absolutely nothing on the packaging or the router itself says what company it's from, and the model number doesn't have anything indicating it as the model number. (I told Dad it was non-descript last night, because Time Warner doesn't want you to know what you have and want you to rely on them for everything, and they really don't need tech-savvy people figuring it out, and he said I wasn't looking hard enough. 9_9) Looking at the user guide on Ambit's site, it looks like they're using routers with two different configurations. Some screenshots show all the functions you should have, some list what we actually have. And someone posted about this router and Time Warner not willing to help them forward their ports.
You know, I can only hope Mom's connection keeps crapping out on her so I can politely suggest we go out and buy a wireless Linksys router. The connection was all over the place last night. Really wish I'd have been there when the guy came to install it. I can't say for sure that I'd have asked him about port forwarding, but maybe after seeing the Linksys disconnected, something would've clicked. Couldn't expect Mom to ask because she knows nothing of this stuff. Too bad it couldn't have been done when Dad was here; he'd have asked the questions. He'd wanted to test another router before using TW's, and Mom wouldn't let him, and now we're renting shoddy equipment.
Rrrgh. I'll mess with this more later.
