(no subject)

Class was fun. Like I've said a bunch of times already, today was our first day with a live model. (I can't remember her name, and this aggravates me, but I'll find out what it is next week when she comes back.) In the first drawing of her, where she was just sitting in a chair, I gave her the most manly proportions and have NO idea how the hell I did it. I started off fine, and her upper body is okay... but then her lower body's way too small. She's petite, so I think I was trying to keep her curves as soft as I could, and I ended up shortening everything. I might actually fix it whenever I get around to cleaning off my drafting table.

Ivan then had us do gestures, which had us drawing the model's poses very quickly before she switched after five minutes. The first one I wasn't able to finish because five minutes is really short, but everything after that was great. I was so proud of myself. I can't scan them since they're on 18"x24" paper, but maybe I'll pull out the camera and take a picture of each. Might as well capture them now before the paper turns yellow. ^^; I've found I'm good with standing poses, but sitting poses need work.

Also, being used to doing things anime-style, drawing actual human proportions is weird. Stuff doesn't have bumps in the right places, you know?

Two more days. I hope my dear boss takes off for one of the two days, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Tomorrow I'm sending in my cover letter/resume for the assistant conductor gig with the LIRR. Still haven't sent in the stuff for court officer, but I have until the 10th to reply, so I've got time. I'm still thinking about it. The gun thing still bothers me some, and if I say I'm available and they ask me if I'm okay with guns, I'm not lying to them, and they'll probably drop me. Of course, the LIRR thing isn't compensated during the (16-week) first phase of training, and the training includes Saturdays, so I wouldn't be able to go to the house for four months. No guns and criminals, though.

Oh, Gamestop tournament for SSBB? So entering. XD I'm planning on playing at one of the two Gamestops up near us in PA, in Scranton or Steamtown. I didn't enter the Sonic 3 tournament held by Blockbuster all those years ago, I'm not missing this one.

And I have an e-mail to write, but I'll do it tomorrow when I get home, because I'm too tired now. ^^;
