A first from my influx of info packets.
Oct. 1st, 2010 10:19 pmFrom Hollins University: A handwritten note, on, like, 6x8 stationery.
"Hi Christina,
I hope this note finds you well. I have enclosed the information that you requested and should you have any questions, please contact us here in the Horizon Office [for resuming/nontraditional-aged students], as we are always very happy to help.
Have a wonderful day!
All the best,
[L. H.] :)"
And yes, there is a smiley.
That was actually very cool. It's always been a form letter, my name inserted, an electronic signature. I'm not saying it's personalized, but it being handwritten is pretty sweet.
It's another women's liberal arts college. I'm looking for small places with good art programs that are broad-minded, and they have a good one. They're in Roanoke, VA, which I know nothing about. XD;
I don't know how I'm going to visit these schools. I'd like to. Mills is the most difficult, it being on the other end of the country. They invited me out for an info session on the 11th of this month, which is awesome because it's a holiday, but crappy because I won't have money for airfare. Most of the schools I'm interested in, I can hop on a train or something (Smith!). I need to make an appointment with Transfer Services so they can help me figure things out, tell me which schools they think would be good and which I should just stop thinking about right now. The open houses for Smith and Mout Holyoke are both on November 11th, which is a holiday for work, but not for school. Prof. Macheski said she'll excuse us from our classes, hehe. Wonder if anyone's gone to her to ask for help getting there. I'll ask on Monday. I'll have an hour to kill before class.
Bed. Tired.
Also, I love my dog.
