Our teacher is a nice guy. I'm the odd one in that I don't have any real prior experience in recording or mixing, but that's the same situation Dad was in when he took a flying class at TCI. Everyone else was a professional business something, and he was a transit worker. He was one of the best in the class, though. ^_^ And actually, I have an idea of what I'll be doing. It is like the Music Tech class, just more involved. I'm going to have fun with it.
There are going to be tests, and it's twelve two-hour sessions, one each week starting tomorrow. (Next class is actually next Monday instead of Thursday because our teacher has a traveling engagement.) The final test will be a hands-on recording of a song, which we'll give to the teacher on a CD.
Oh, and I got really lucky in getting this class. More than 30 people called for it, and only six were allowed a seat. As if that weren't enough, the teacher charges $60 an hour for his recording studio, and because of that, the next class will have to pay. My class is getting the lessons for free. ^_____^ Very happy.
At the end of this whole thing, I'll get a certificate stating what I did (and a little graduation ceremony, haha), and I can use that as a reference if I go looking for work somewhere. I'm getting the same stuff in this class that colleges are offering for $4,000.
