Interview...
Mar. 22nd, 2006 06:16 pmOkay, I may have knocked myself out of the running for the job, solely because in Tax and Finance, we don't use phones NEARLY as much as these people do. I'd be on the phone all the time. The women I spoke to (one of them a Dr. Ginzler, the other--who did most of the talking--I didn't catch the name of) seemed to stress that quite heavily. I told them that I'd have to get used to it, but that I think I can do it.
... Think? Yeah, I know, not the best choice of words. Quiet, I was nervous. As it was, by the time 10am rolled around, I was so nervous my hands shook. Me, pressure? Naaaah.
They said they usually make their decisions in a week or so, so we'll see what happens. Tas looked at the list of duties I brought back with me, and she thinks I can do it. Mom looked at it, and she thinks I can do it. (She also said she used to do the same thing, pretty much, when she worked at the VA hospital, so she has an idea of what I'd be doing... and she used to run three clinics at one time by herself. Not all the time, of course, but sometimes she was the only one there.) I'm... still a bit skeptical. XD; I'll always be busy, though. It'll be an adjustment and a challenge, but if I can pull it off, it'll be good for me. IF I get the job. I have a feeling there were others interviewed who were much more qualified than I.
( My duties... )
So you see why I'm skeptical. XD;;; I do pieces of this. Tas does a little more. Sonia does quite a bit of it, but she's also a Secretary 2, so... And of course, I'm talking about tax stuff, here, not medical. There are no patients. There are barely taxpayers, where Sonia is involved. She's not concerned with them. She's concerned with Brian and what he tells her to do. Me, I gotta deal with freaking patients. The public. I'm not sure about that, among other things.
Anyway, I told them I was interested (they make you go BACK to the Human Resources building right after the interview to tell them whether or not you're still interested in the job... I wasn't even sure I was still interested when I said yes, but I was very much in doubt), so we'll see what happens. I guess I can always turn them down later, but if it's only a week...
And that's if I even get the call. I agonize over things too much, you know? And it's a promotion. It's a nice salary jump. (They mentioned that too, by the way--the fact that I'd be jumping from Keyboard Specialist 1 to Secretary 1. It's not unheard of, but I think they were wondering if I had the experience to make such a jump.) I'll get out of Tax.
Whatever. I'll deal with it as it comes, I guess.
You know what? I still haven't gotten the test score back from that stupid Court Officer exam. I want my freaking score.
