SO. (Money rant)
Aug. 3rd, 2009 05:09 pmGuess when I'll be getting my futon? Not this weekend.
Why? Because LaGuardia received my loan application and neglected to tell me that I should bring it in, and tried to tell me that the form says to bring it in. Which it doesn't. Because if it did, I'd have brought it when I filled it out TWO MONTHS AGO. So thanks to that lovely mishap, I had to sign up for TuitionPay, because my loan will not be approved before the 8/10/09 payment deadline, and signing up for TuitionPay meant I had to throw them $345 as SOON as I signed up.
Where did that $345 go? My credit card. Which is what the futon was supposed to go to. My bed money went to the tuition I was NOT supposed to be paying out-of-pocket. And I get paid on Wednesday, but this has royally f'ed up my finances, because now I have to hold $167 from the next eight checks in addition to everything else I have to pay, and if I were to try to get the futon this weekend, I'd have no money left. None.
Related to the money thing: The state lifted the requirement for ten years of service, regarding the voluntary severance program, so I'm now eligible. (Maybe. See below.)
$20,000 is not a lot of money, but I swear to god, I'm this close to going ahead with it. I don't even know if they'd let me quit since they couldn't refill my position and someone might make the argument that the unit needs a secretary, but seriously. Screw money.
