Apr. 22nd, 2010 06:09 pmA on Illustration midterm! I'm improving. My color choices and my use of the picture plane are improving as I go, which is what I want. I asked her about the one I'm working on for next week and she gave me some good suggestions, so I'll try them out. (Has to do with the background... it's three panels, each showing a dress that the king had made for the princess, and I couldn't figure out what to put behind them in the background. One dress is shades of blue, one is light gray, one is silver and gold. She suggested I use one or two contrasting colors in the back, maybe three shades of red that have the same visual weight, and three shades of brown that have some measure of pop to them, not dull, murky browns.) Now to just get the same result for Painting on Tuesday... I'm still working on my midterm painting. It's still very much in the underpainting phase.
Recruiters from SVA will be at the school next month. I'll probably go show stuff to them, but I don't know what.
