E-mailed Prof. Brooks (Bruce, as I'm sure he'll have us call him) about the capstone course, HUA289, and whether HUA290 is the same course. (It has the same description, anyway.) I explained my situation and wondered about the whole intermediate art course things. Turns out HUA290 IS an intermediate art course, so I could take that in the winter term, and the capstone in the spring. Meaning, I've had to give up Creative Writing Workshop for now, because NOT doing so would mean basically taking all of Monday and Wednesday off, and the boss will not go for that, nor would I be particularly happy about blowing so much leave time. But, I get to take an intermediate course after all, hopefully everything else falls into place the way it's supposed to, and I still get to attend September commencement exercises.

So what happens with Graphic Narrative and Intermediate Painting? I don't know. As of right now, I only have a vague idea of what's happening this spring. Graphic Narrative's not even tentatively scheduled yet. There's a session of IP, but I can't remember what time it is now. I know it'd require more time out of the office. Taking HUA290 means GN or IP would be an extra course, like Aesthetics is.

Seriously, I hate the scheduling thing. And I get the feeling that eventually the boss is going to get fed up with me being out of the office so much. It's not my fault courses are only held at certain times. He already thought I was specifically taking courses during the daytime to get out of work. (He didn't say it in so many words, but he asked if all my classes were daytime classes after I asked him about taking Aesthetics, which implied it).

And you know what's funny? HUA290 will take place on Monday/Wednesday from 9:15-12:45. In other words, it'll end up excusing me from the steering committee meetings for at least another six weeks. (They're bimonthly, so until I look at a calendar, I can't say whether that excuses me from one or two meetings. Likely just one.) That's hilarious. I wasn't planning that at all. He should just have everyone pick someone else to do the stupid minutes. They don't want me doing it anyway.

ANYWAY, today's classes...

Aesthetics: I like Prof. Albrecht. I am not pleased at having to present something in front of the class again. I thought I escaped that after completing Fundamentals of Speech Communication. XD; I'm sad that I'll probably miss a concert at Carnegie Hall due to having Life Drawing on Thursday evenings. I'm going to see how I like the class once we start actually working. Like I said, it's extra work, not a requirement for my major, so if I feel like things are too much, I have room to drop a class. Don't think I will (since I like all my teachers), but the option is there.

Writing Through Literature: Terry (Prof. Cole) is AWESOME. He's funny, engaging, and looking out for our wallets! We need to buy/borrow/whatever copies of Push (the book Precious is based on) and Watchmen. Everything else we'll need, he's going to photocopy and give us. He recommended we get a folder to keep everything in.

Western Civilization: Latest class; taught by Eric (Prof. Cimino), who's a really nice guy. Two movies in class, a quiz, midterm, and final, and NO term paper. YES. Good thing, considering all the work I'm going to have this semester.

Next step is getting my books, which might have to wait until Wednesday after I get out of Aesthetics. The reading for that class, I can find online.

I'm tired, and have been all day, but I don't have to be at the school tomorrow until 9:15, so I can sleep in a bit. I have to stay at work until six. I might end up actually charging some time tomorrow; I said I could make it to a discussion after Art History, but I haven't mentioned it to the boss. I might skip it and cite work as an excuse, but I'll still probably end up a little late. And when I get back to lower Manhattan, I have to go to the seaport to pick up Halo: Reach. I could do it after work, but I'm not going to feel like going anywhere but home by 6pm.

I'm going to play some Professor Layton and go to sleep. ^_^
