Skipped work again, but that was because I had so much I wanted to do at the school, it made no sense at all to go to work for an hour and a half.

Got to the school for an info session with SCAD representatives that ended up not being an info session! Prof. Macheski got it a bit wrong (or at least gave me the wrong impression), and it ended up just being a couple of reps talking to Bruce Brooks, one of the art professors. Bruce let me hang around in the classroom while they talked, and then I got to show some of my work to each of the reps in another room. Got compliments, and was told to keep doing the sketches of riders on the train. (One day I'll scan them.) The woman gave me a copy of SCAD's Illustration book and some other materials, and her card. She lives in Brooklyn and said if I ever want to meet up with her to show her artwork or get information, I can contact her.

Killed some time before going to the drawing studio, where the non-instructional drawing workshop is held for four hours on Wednesdays. Had a model. Stayed there for a while drawing gestures and longer poses before the Art Club meeting, which was interesting--they're teaming up with other clubs (Photography Club, Creative Writing Club) to create art. The Photo Club's actually going to print 1,000 copies of a book and they want to collaborate, so it'd be one artist and one photographer working together to make a cohesive piece. The art club is interested in putting its art out in the world, so they're talking about creating art for one member's restaurant (well, where they work) and a few other things.

I'm talking about it like I'm not a member, because it's possible I won't be able to attend meetings. Because of work. When I told Mom about it a little while ago and said I'd have to go in tomorrow and ask the boss if I can have Wednesdays off (from 1:30 on, so I'd be charging 2 1/2 additional hours per week--which I can still do considering I tend to stay at work late on Tuesdays and therefore earn more time than I use), Mom said I might not be able to do everything I want to. So of course, now I'm stuck and wondering if I should even bother asking. A club I can get into and benefit from, and boom. "No, you can't do that." Depends on what the boss says, and considering this isn't a class, but a club, I'm not sure he'll go for it.

Which is a big fat fail.

ANYWAY.

Went BACK to the drawing studio for a little bit more drawing, then went to the library in the E building for an info session with a guy from NYU. I'm not looking to get into NYU (unless they suddenly declare me the Next Best Thing and give me a full ride, haha). He was there to talk about the application essay, which really applies to every college, especially when using the Common Application, so I figured I'd attend. Brad Grachan, that's his name. Cool guy. I told him I'd send him a disc with artwork on it, and he'll send it to the studio art person so she can give me feedback. They're totally off my radar, though. Lots of colleges have a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship. They tend to want a 3.5 GPA and like a 3.25 or 3.0 to have it renewed. NYU wants a cumulative 3.8. So yeah, not gonna happen. And it's only $2,500, which in the land of NYU is like a drop in the ocean. Commuting students would be paying about $44,000 a year on tuition. Too much debt for me, even if I came in as a junior.

Went to classes, talked about Push, finished watching Troy, came home, now tired and needing more than a bit of sleep. Art History tomorrow morning, then work, then Life Drawing.

Sadly, the one thing I didn't get to do today was get my hair done. And normally I'd make the appointment for next Tuesday after work, but I'm scheduled to take the CPE then. I might wait until later, though, take it after I reach my 45th credit. I can take it again in March. My hair desperately needs doing and Tuesday is the only day I can get it done. Every other day barring weekends has conflicts.

I miss my free time and lack of obligations, damnit.
