And you know what? The second part of the test, which had me dealing with either Word 2000 or 97 (I forgot to check the version before I left, but holy crap, MTA! I know they were only training computers, but update your stuff! Freaking ancient software...), had me performing a mail merge, something I've never ever had to do, and after poking around, I still figured it out. Meanwhile, the woman next to me changed the text color to yellow where the directions said to highlight in yellow, so I at least know I did better than one person. Also, I typed 86 WPM with 99% accuracy. (I knew something was wrong, too. At one point I looked up and my typed text wasn't lining up with the example, but I didn't want to find the error because it was a timed test.)

I've gone on the North Shore Animal League's website again and found Maiden. There are quite a few puppies on the site that are really cute, but she's the first one that really caught my eye and the one I keep going back to. She's SO adorable. I wonder what mix she is?

Seriously, I have no business looking at puppies, but OMG.

This all started because of the puppy mill thing. Dona had said she's heard something about "the largest animal" something-or-other being in trouble, so I went to the ASPCA's site and then NSAL, but it turns out it may be the Wildlife Conservation Society, which is dealing with budget cuts and dwindling donations. So yeah, the Bronx Zoo and the New York Aquarium are in trouble.

... and I made the mistake of going to the Daily News' website and reading some of the comments on the NY Post stories. Many of the posters there are trolls, but that doesn't stop me getting pissed off. 9_9;

Okay, so first, the Jena 6 thing. (Google or Wiki it, I'm too lazy to put up a link now.) Not to say those kids don't need punishment--I'm sorry, but 6 on 1 is NOT fair, especially after the 1 has been knocked unconscious--but ALL of them need punishment, including the white kids that hung the nooses. That is a blatant threat. Harmless prank, my ass.

The DA in Jena needs the Justice Department sicced on his ass. Where the hell are HIS conspiracy charges?

Anyway, first that. Then I open up the Daily News today while Kwesi's up in his meeting, and I see a story about a black girl in West Virginia that was raped and tortured for a week by at least six (I say at least because authorities are looking for two more people) white people. Four of them were mother/daughter and mother/son. What the fuck.

I'm already very emotionally charged this week. I don't need things like the Jena incident to piss me off or the WV incident to have me near tears at my damn desk.

Bush, here's the thing: Deal with your own country. Screw Iraq. If their government and military and police can't handle themselves, that's their problem. We are NOT Team America: World Police. Stop focusing so much on your profits and your constituents and your "values" and FIX THIS COUNTRY.
