Things that make you go "O_O"...

meitantei_cjSaw (what's left of) the car. I complain a lot about my mom, I do. But never, ever let it be said that I don't love her.
The fact that she walked away from that wreck of a car is amazing. I couldn't get over it. Stuff was all over the place, because she (according to Mark) hit a patch of black ice, did a spin, went off the road into an embankment, hit a tree, bounced back, went airborne, did another spin... she hit three places before she finally stopped. Dad was "complaining" because he was helping her get stuff out of the car when we were there today, and he was sitting on chicken bones because she'd been eating Popeye's on the way up to the house, hehe.
The entire left side was damaged, and if Craig had been in his normal seat (he always sits on the left, I'm always on the right), the frame of the car probably would've hit him in the head. And Dad, apparently, didn't fasten the battery clamp down well enough when he fixed one of Mom's headlights, and the battery flew out of the car. The mechanic (Mark) said something about that happening and the car catching fire. She said he was trying to make a toasted marshmellow out of her. I said, "No, fried chicken."
I'm not funny, I know. They were amused, though. XD
She said she still has a headache and her back/hip are bothering her, but she's otherwise fine. (She spilled some coffee while we were eating at Fresno's, and she remarked that she was watching out for anything she doesn't normally do, any signs of damage. She's not clumsy, and dropping hot coffee is a no-no. ^^;)
Car's totaled, so as of now, Mom and I don't have a car to get around in. We're hitching a ride with a couple of her friends from work. (Leaving in the morning. Not happy about that... but it beats taking the train back, which is what I was originally going to do.) I don't even care--after seeing something like that (and I'm glad Craig didn't see it), I'm just happy she's alive.
In other news, got Taiko Drum Master for nearly half the price because of all the Rewards coupons and things Dad had saved up. ^______^ The game is awesome. And Namco put a medley from Dragon Spirit on there. Dragon Spirit is one of my all-time favorite 8-bit games. I was looking for Namco Museum #5 for the longest time solely because it had that game on it. (Never did get the game. It's so rare, people want upwards of $60 for it. ¬_¬) They updated the song with electric guitar and everything, it sounds SO cool. Craig is going to flip out... especially when I set it to Autoplay and let him see the stuff it wants me to do on that song on Hard mode. HELL no. I couldn't do that on a real snare, let alone a plastic taiko. XD;;
And may I just say, I am not a drummer, so I'm making myself pretty proud, with the stuff I've been doing on that thing.
I don't know which I'll be playing more, Taiko or Halo 2. XD EB sells extra taikos, so if Craig decides he wants to play with it, I'll buy another one. I'm going to stop playing Taiko in a bit, because it's getting late, and even though I'm on the other side of the house and no one can hear me too well, it's a little noisy. ^___^;;

Date: 2004-11-14 07:00 am (UTC)I'm glad she's all right, CJ. Oh my god. Jun's stepfather hit a patch of ice a few years ago. Totalled his Bronco; but thankfully, he came out of there alive. It wasn't as bad as what happened with your mom...but, still. I'm glad she's ok. <3
