Oliver and I got back upstairs this morning to find that Mom had already gone out to get her hair done. I went out on the terrace to look for the car, but it was gone, so I was going to come back inside, but Ollie was right there and looked like he wanted to come out. He did, and did the usual looking around (and even poked his nose through the bars--I think he wanted to get his whole head through so he could look down, and he kind of snorted when he realized he couldn't). Then he went to the left side of the terrace and started sniffing. Specifically, he sniffed some dried bird poop. Then he started actually walking around, nose to the floor... and barked. And wouldn't stop barking. I couldn't see what he was barking at, but I already knew what it was.

There was a pigeon. Last time the terrace was organized, Mom unintentionally left a space wide enough for the bird to get into. She was laying on a nest, but thankfully there weren't any eggs just yet.

I called Mom, as both of us realized that THAT is the reason we've been seeing so many pigeons on the railing of our terrace.

Needless to say, I (A) had to pick up the nest and throw it down the garbage chute (after a somewhat lengthy battle of wills with the pigeon--I kept spraying her with the hose we attach to the sink faucet, and she would not leave, so I ended up letting Oliver BACK out onto the terrace to scare her off), and (B) Oliver got lots of petting and "Good boy!"s and a stick of Pup-eroni for his services. XD We never would have known about that pigeon, and if we had found out, it'd have been too late and there would've undoubtedly been babies. I closed the space as best I could, but I might actually go back out there later and see if I can't fix it better. We don't want babies here. We had them once before, and neither of us could bring ourselves to dispose of them/the nest then; we had to wait for them to grow up and leave the nest. (That's when Mom and Dad threw the majority of the stuff that was out there out and disinfected the entire terrace. XD;;)

Also? It's absolutely hilarious to watch him "guard" the terrace. The pigeons here tend to fly off and want to come back a few seconds later, so every time one would come near, Oliver would start up and scare them back off. And then he'd pace the terrace. ^___^ I swear, I love that dog.

UNRELATED STUFF: Craig's received Left 4 Dead from a Swaptree trade. He should be getting Fear soon. He also said he's getting Fear 2 from someone. This is not the weekend for me to not be up there. XD;; And... there was something else and I've lost it.

Oh, but I did win $10 on a Mega Millions quick pick! Have to tell Mom. See, it CAN happen. (Of course, one more number would've netted me $150... ^^;) Mom has absolutely no luck with lotto tickets.
