New dog!

For the time being, we're calling him Sherlock, and that'll probably end up being his name. The other names are things that've been tossed around. Shadow doesn't really fit in a visual sense, but he's the type of dog that follows you EVERYWHERE, so he is kind of like a little shadow. Milo was something I thought up in the car. Wheatley was jokingly suggested by Craig--he swears it was a joke and that the name is stupid, but Mom and I liked it. ^^; Watson was his next name, and then Mom's friend Debbie said to call him Sherlock, and we've all started doing so.

He's had a few accidents in the house, but a little while ago, he went over to the door like he wanted to go out, and sure enough, he had to pee, so hopefully he's starting to learn that he wants to go outside to do that stuff. It's gonna take time for him to really get it. I'll take him back out in an hour. He really needs a bath, because he keeps nibbling at himself and scratching, but we can't do that until the incision from his neutering gets checked out. Once that's all good, he's getting a GOOD bath. He wasn't happy about the bath, just like Oliver. I'm starting to think that's just a standard dog thing, unless that dog is a Lab or a poodle or one of those breeds.

He has gigantic paws, hehe. Everyone comments on them. I'm seriously wondering what the hell he's mixed with and considering doing one of those DNA tests on him. Not now, but eventually. All we know is he's a Shih Tzu mix and he's from a mill, so he could be mixed with any small dog. Mom thought Schnauzer. I really wanna know what's in there. XD

So far, things are okay. He seems to be getting used to things, and Craig did mention feeling some irritation when he came in yesterday, but after we gave him a quickie "bath" (really more of a rubdown), Craig hasn't said anything else about it, so I think he's safe. I told Mom that if Craig mentions it again, if we have to take Sherlock back, we'll take him back. I won't be extremely happy about it, but I'm not getting a dog that'll make my brother sick. Sherlock has to go back to North Shore on Monday to get the sutures on his front left paw removed, then on August 4th, he has to go back for something else... and at that point we'll have them check his incision. He pulls on his walks, but having not really walked on leash before, he's all right. He's learning. Also, must get video of him running. He does this cool, graceful leaping instead of real running. He glides through the air. And he's fast. ^_^

While at the shelter, Mom fell in love with some kittens. She totally would've gone home with one, I bet. Well, first things first. We DO have a mill dog to work with first. But eventually.
