I FINALLY GOT MOM TO SAY THE BOSS IS AN IDIOT. (And immediately called her on it, haha.)

By now New Yorkers have heard about the crane falling onto a building in Lower Manhattan. That happened to be my workplace. It also happened to be my floor that the crane hit. No damage inside, just some of the facade knocked off the building and onto the ground... but no one was around because the building was closed that weekend for something the building management was having done--the reason the crane was there to begin with. They were lifting air conditioning units to the roof, I believe.

Well, I get in this morning and the door's wide open, propped open with a chair. Upon further inspection, someone had beaten the HELL out of it. It was all dented and misshapen, and paint chips were everywhere. I'm pretty much the only one in at the time, so I just sit down and wonder what could have caused it.

Everyone starts coming in and going "Christina, what happened to the door?!" (and my boss makes this cute comment: "So... had trouble getting in this morning?"), and I finally find out from Steve that the FDNY had to break the door down to get to where the crane had smacked into the building. The thing is, the boss comes back out of his office and asks me what happens now, implies that we might have to be the ones to replace the door/repair it/pay for it, and tells me to ask our buildings contact in Albany about it.

And I'm thinking, "So let me get this straight. Not a single person from OCFS is in the building (nor is anyone else for that matter, or Building Management could have gotten the key for the door to the FDNY, but anyway). Our door has to be forced open so emergency services can get to a crane that wasn't secured properly and crashed into the building, and was only there because of something the building is doing, and we have to deal with it?" The crane company needs to pay for it for not securing their crane! And as for the door, we don't own it, the building does. It's not our job to replace their door. Naturally, John confirmed this, and the door was replaced before the day was out.

So yeah, Mom goes, "Yeah, your boss is an idiot," and I go, "SEE?!" And she grins. XD;;

Started my color value scale last night; just the red line. I need to fix the two lightest shades, as they seem like they should be lighter. If I recall correctly, Prof. Segre said the black should be black with a tinge of whatever color, and the white should be the same. My lightest red is very specifically PINK, not "white with a little bit of red". Should be much lighter than it is. I'll do orange and yellow afterwards... and then I need to sit down and work on my Illustration homework. I'm tired, but I'm going to work now so I don't waste the day. I didn't do anything over the weekend since I left my materials in the city while Mom and I went to PA.
