This was it last night. I kept looking at it, like, something's missing. (And it's not the huge empty space in the middle; that's where the mushroom cloud goes.)
And here's when I realized what the problem was:
It was too clean! ^^; I was like, you know what, there's not enough grit on this thing. War is a shitty thing. So I mixed brown, black, and white paint with LOADS of water, and painted away. I ended up covering up part of the quote at the top (specifically, the word "Nuclear"), which I'm not too happy about; I might go over it with a pen to bring it out more. You have to get close to read a good deal of the text anyway, though. The thing with the US/USSR flag is an idea from Jasper Johns, who did that with the American flag.
(Hawaii got covered up. I got a little happy with the brush. Oops.)
More shots...
This part's supposed to kind of be rain coming from the cloud. Wanted to add more, but hooking the strings onto the cloud was getting pretty difficult. The last thing I wanted was to screw up the cloud, because there's nothing holding up the plume. It's just the poster tube, and fluff that I amanged to shape and barely glue together. There are about four strings in the front and two in the back, hanging from invisible-ish wire. Originally there were going to be other cutout figures of people running or in a generally scared pose, and this one guy was going to be the one that decided to just deal with it. There's a specific part in the poem, on the first page, that I got this idea from. I haven't found decent enough pictures, though, and have too much to do to draw them myself, so he'll have to do.
SO. Done. With that, anyway. Hopefully, if I do get spanked, it's not too bad. ^^;; I think it looks good, though, especially for never having done this before.
Stuff to do this week:
--Writing for Fiction Writing Workshop
--Astronomy lab (>_<)
--Stuff for Graphic Narrative
--Museum visit/first draft of term paper for Art History
And next week? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Honestly. I'm dyin' here. I need a day where I have nothing to do.
