The thing about kids was something neither of us could really budge on. He hasn't ever wanted kids, and I know I want to raise them. It wouldn't have been fair to keep going.

So, back to the drawing board.

I'm sorry to hear that, but you know, the issue of children is something that you can never really compromise on. Doesn't make it any less painful, I know... But in the long run, it'll be for the best. I have a friend right now who is with a guy who wants kids, but she can't stand the thought, and they're about to get married... it's not an easy spot to be in.

Exactly. It wouldn't be fair to either of us if we kept going. He doesn't want to stand still, and that's what we'd have had to do for the relationship to keep going.

We're still friends, though it is weird for me. I think I'm hurting more over it than he is, but that's more because he's been thinking about this since Thanksgiving week. His mind's already over it.
