  • Your Writing Across Media professor tries to teach Photoshop to a bunch of newbies and thinks you can make the image in a layer look nicer by duplicating the layer. Not duplicating it and messing with the adjustments. Just duplicating it. -_-;
  • You realize you forgot to go to the vineyard to help press the white grapes your class picked on the field trip... four hours later.
  • You find out that Amazon may have sent you a television. Unsolicited. o_o

That last one. We were on our way home from the field trip (more on that later), and I got a text from Dad that was like, "Did you order a TV? There's a huge one here with your name on it." Uh, no...? I told him the only thing that should've been going to the house was a laptop bag I bought during the last woot-off. I asked if it was from Woot, but he didn't answer me back, so I just left it alone. No one in our family ordered it, it wasn't on anyone's wishlist, and Woot had JUST sold the TV like a week or so ago.

So. Yeah. LG 42" LCD TV. I have no idea. Mom's happy though, because she can really use a new one for the living room in Brooklyn. XD; I spoke to her today, and she said Craig mentioned something about liking Woot's Facebook page and maybe getting free loot out of it. I know nothing of this, I just liked them on Facebook quite a while ago because I like Woot. I can't find anything about it. It'd be so funny if we were randomly chosen or something out of all the people that bought stuff during the woot-off. That's the first one I've bought from in a while, too, haha. I'm thinking it was Woot, but I can't find the TV on their previous items page, so maybe it actually WAS Amazon. I've been ordering music from them lately and have gotten a few non-music items as well (stuff for my hair, the two Hyrule Historia copies, a camera), after not ordering much of anything for a long time. Dad called and said the invoice said it was a gift. *shrug*

Anyway, the Finger Lakes field trip!

We left Monday at one; class was canceled that day so we could get there a little earlier. It's about a four-hour trip. We were mostly around Keuka Lake, although we went over to Seneca Lake for the last leg of the trip. I came out of it with six bottles: three fruit wines (Strawberry White Zinfandel, a cranberry, and a pomegranate--I like sweet!), two whites (a Seyval Blanc and a wine called Celebrate from Keuka Spring Vineyards), and a red (Clara's Red, from the same vineyard). One girl had thirteen. Also, I think I missed a really good one at the second winery because I stopped tasting at one point. I could feel myself getting a little tipsy and did not taste another strawberry-flavored wine called Thistle Brush. Nearly everyone in the class walked out with a bottle. One guy had two. Apparently my taste in wines is the same as Mom's--she likes sweet wines as well. She sounded excited when I said I got the pomengranate one. XD I'm not drinking them yet. I don't even have a corkscrew here to get the corks off (I'm fairly certain they're ALL corked). I'm going to keep them sealed and bring them back with me when I head home next month, if Mom and/or Dad pick me up. If not, it'll probably have to wait until November. I don't know how comfortable I'll feel bringing them on the train, or if they'll even be safe during the trip, but I know they'll be fine if we're in the car.

The Finger Lakes region is freaking beautiful. The lakes are huge! I don't know why I hear the word lake and think it's going to be smaller... There are a lot of hills and most of the places we visited had gorgeous views of their lake. I'm lazy now, but I'm gonna post pictures from the trip. It was a great trip, and I'd love to go back up there sometime. We picked a bunch of grapes and pressed them today, but I forgot all about it. I'm glad it didn't affect the grade! I completely intended to go, but my mind was just not in it today and I wasn't thinking about much of anything. That's what happens when you're off campus for almost three days. ^^;

--Started off miserable, not because of anything at school, but because I didn't go to sleep until after 1:30 last night since I was working on the title page of my comic. I'd decided to add color to it and didn't really finish because I couldn't figure out what to do with the backgrounds of each panel. Prof. Mayer didn't bring that up though. Anyway, 20th Century Art ended on a high note with a film about Matisse and his friendship with a nun. Was nice to see another angle to an artist we've learned about, something that wasn't purely academic.

--In Graphic Narrative, spoke with Prof. Mayer about college stuff. She said she recommends Smith if I can get in. She has a relative (if I remember correctly) that went there. Ended up with like $40,000 in loan debt, but I'm pretty sure that was for all four years, and the Smith network is HUGE. I know that; that's part of the reason I applied. Meanwhile, I'll put in a deposit with Juniata, and I'll write Smith a letter to try and push my cause a bit. Back on topic, Prof. Mayer said there's going to be a show at the school for women students' artwork, and each teacher gets to nominate someone. She wanted to nominate me. That's awesome. :D So she will be nominating me. I just have to have my 2D stuff framed, and I'm going to try to make some new stuff.

--Got home to find out that Woot posted Random Crap today! I am NOT happy. I didn't check it this morning because I was finishing up some stuff on my comic pages and had to rush out. When Dad checked the site, they were at level four bags, and when he came back, they were selling level ten. Pissed, I am.

--April Fools jokes: An e-mail from Hiram College saying I'd been accepted. I was like, O_O, because I didn't apply there. Then I clicked it and it said something like, "April Fools! You haven't applied yet. We're sad about that." XD; Also, Steam has thrown potatoes into some of their games, including BIT.TRIP BEAT. The three representations of the levels are now yellow, brown, and red potatoes. That's just so unbelievably random.

--Think I have an idea for A&DS, finally. I'm not sure how good an idea it is, but it'll do. It requires some sculpture on my part, though, and I'm not sure about that. I'll figure it out, though. Who knows, I might have fun with it. If I can't do the sculpture, I'll have to figure out another way to portray the idea.

--Pizza as soon as the guy GETS here. I'm starving. Will eat and sleep, because I've hit relaxation mode and if I even touch my bed, I'm done.

Mom told me that the GED/job training program we want Craig to sign up for is five days a week, from 9-5. I thought it was like half a day or something, not the whole day.

Me: You go with him.
Mom: No, you go. I think he'll do better with you. *beat* Don't punk out.
Me: Okay...

So yeah, that should be fun.

Told Bruce that I'll be in Intermediate Painting tomorrow, and explained why I'm thinking of dropping the class. I have to go to bed so I have some form of energy in the morning. Will be the first time I have to wake up, walk the dog, and be out of the house by 8-something since fall. (So not pleased about the morning classes... but it's only once/twice a week.) I've been totally exhausted all day because I installed the Wootalyzer program to help me track the Woot-Off and possibly snag another Bag of Crap, and I think Windows Update woke the computer up to install what it wanted, because my previously-hibernated computer was on, and the Wootalyzer's alarm blared me awake. (And not even for the bag, either. That came up RIGHT after I left for class. I probably wasn't even in the train station yet.)

Tempted to just drop the painting class just so I don't have to get up early tomorrow. XD;
